"Expert-TEASE": A short, yet expert nugget of value...
Evolving Stages of Changing Ages does include the last stage of life for some,
and a new stage of evolvement for others. You are dealing with an intense
issue.

Knowing what to do, how to do it, or where to do it, whether it is an illness of
your own, someone else or beyond illness and in preparation for an inevitable
death, it is important to know that if you are feeling alone, unheard, frustrated,
and overwhelmed, you are experiencing normal feelings for the situation.

Perhaps you feel…
angry about being or seeing your loved one in pain, and/or afraid of the
    powerful pain medications being employed

baffled about when to choose hospice

filled with questions you can’t quite articulate, and embarrassed about
“bothering” the really busy doctors & nurses

confused and conflicted, frightened and guilty, over having to decide
    about nutrition and hydration

overwhelmed with a sense of separation and disconnectedness from your
    loved one

If you are a patient or family struggling and overwhelmed with pain, out-of-
control symptoms, grief, care giving responsibilities, trying to balance quality-of-
life and quantity-of-life, and the necessity of making some of the toughest end-
of-life decisions, you are entitled to positive support. Surround yourself with
people who can be supportive; a family member or friend who has gone
through a similar situation might be a way to nurture yourself. Just remember,
you are not alone.
