LORRIE: “God Wants You to Laugh and Love Your Life. I don’t want to
sound too ‘religious’ but I truly believe our purpose here on the Earth as
physical beings is to LOVE our life, to laugh and enjoy life, to help others
and to serve. I’ve always felt my core essence was kind of hokey. But
now with ‘The Secret’ getting so much attention and waking people up I
realize I just figured it out early on. I’m a huge laugher. I love finding
humor in situations. It’s easy to spiral downward but it’s so much more
fun to laugh."

JOHN: “The World According to John. I can’t wait until I’m the ruler of
the world and they finally do things my way. The world would be such a
better place."

2.  What key factors make you a success in working together?
Lorrie: “We both genuinely want to help AND we’re both playful. We
don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

John: “What Lo says is true. But I also tend to make sure things get
done. I hate chaos so I pay close attention to the details that surround
whatever event or project we’re involved in. Lo is the creative input.”

3.  When did you know HE/SHE was “THE ONE” for you?
LORRIE: “This is going to sound silly but the moment I realized John
was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with was when we
were skiing at Mountain High in California. (He happens to be one of the
most amazing skiers I’ve ever known who isn’t actually professional.)
Anyway, some poor girl who was a beginner was sort of tricked into going
down an intermediate run by her ‘boyfriend.’ They went up the chair lift
together and he just abandoned her, skiing down by himself. John saw
her crying and literally carried her on his back all the way down the
mountain. This was at the beginning of our relationship so you have to
understand, we could barely stand to be apart from each other. But that
moment was the first time I recognized he was an extraordinary man.
Someone who would go the extra mile to do what was right.

JOHN: “Lo just doesn’t get that people love her because she is so
approachable. She’s always beating herself up about how casual she
sounds, even ditzy sometimes. Like when she mixes up her metaphors.
She says stuff like, “Rocket surgery,” “Grab the bull by the reins,” and
“Not the smartest tool in the shed.” But that is what makes her so
loveable. She’s knows copywriting and marketing better than 99% of the
people out there and sometimes she doesn’t realize her own value. That
can be frustrating as a husband. I KNOW how cool she is, but she doesn’t
always see it.

When did I want to spend the rest of my life with her? From the
moment  I saw her. She’s the whole package. Gorgeous, intelligent,
a great mom, creative, giving; I couldn’t have created a more perfect
woman if I tried.”

4.  What do you each treasure about the other one in your biz relationship?
Lorrie: “John talks me off the ledge if I get nervous about what I’m
doing. He’s a great sounding board and has really learned how to talk to
me in ways that I can hear.”

John: “Lo is my strength and power. I feel like I can do anything when
I’m around her.”

5.  Describe the face of your business?
Red Hot Copy is dedicated to teaching the world it is possible to shift
from the hype-filled sales copy to a more modern version…copy written
with authenticity, trust, and rapport.

6.  Describe the behind the scenes strategies you use to make Red Hot Copy
what it is today.
Lorrie: “I tend to get an idea and run with it because I’m propelled by
the excitement. So I didn’t have a grand plan to make my business what
it is. But I will say attending live events, launching my ezine, and starting
my mentorship programs were probably three of the reasons for my rise
in visibility.”

John: “I’m just there as Lo’s supporter. I started going to a lot of the
live events with her after John Childers made me see the light. First she
was going to all these events by herself (or with her friend, Ali Brown). I
wasn’t happy about it because she wasn’t making a lot of money, but she
was sure spending it. So I followed her to John Childers’ Speaker Training
in Las Vegas. I figured I could sip on umbrella drinks at the pool while she
was in the event then meet up for dinner. Well as I was saying goodbye
to her in the hallway, John Childers invites me to come inside. So I go in
figuring I’ll go to the pool at the first break. One of the first thing s he
says from the stage is ‘Never give anything away because it will be
wasted on that person. They will never do anything with it.’ I thought,
‘Damn. Now I HAVE to stay. He just challenged me.’ By the end of the
course, I basically drank the Kool-Aide and became a big fan. Now I go to
as many of these things as possible. Funny thing is, we always make
strong connections and more money when we go.”

7.  What tasks do each of you take on?
Lorrie: “I’m the star! When we do events everything is in place ahead of
time so I can just concentrate on delivering killer content. Of course I do
all the writing and marketing too.”

John: “No, I’m the star! That’s what she doesn’t get. She delivers the
content, but I’m the glue that holds the whole project together. I take
care of emceeing, making sure attendees know the house rules, all the
technology, negotiating better rates, packing stuff up.

Awarding Lorrie and John in this category is a no
brainer.
(See Q & A below). As a Couple who Work
Together, they have that rare "thing" that radiates
when in each other's presence. The cool thing is how
contagious their magic is when you are around them.

Copywriter extraordinaire, Lorrie is the on-stage
presence and John is the same presence off-stage.
It is a mutually supportive team.

Lorrie has been nominated for the Los Angeles
Business Journal’s Women Making a Difference
(three times – humbly, she quips, “but who’s
counting”), a Stevie Award (considered the Oscars of
Marketing), Online Marketer of the Year, and Fast
Company’s Fast 50. She has a secured a spot at
www.gurudaq.com  (a stockbroker’s watch of the
Internet ‘gurus’) and her home study course won an
Apex award for publishing excellence.
